See how the Vivo NEX Dual Display edition was torn down on video

One of the best smartphones in the past couple of months is the Vivo NEX Dual display edition with its two screens. The phone came with a secondary panel measuring 5.49 inches.

In the video, you will see that to disassemble the device is not easy. Once you start, so many things wait for you along the line. Most especially how to disassemble the internals which are affixed to the main display while the metal frame hosts the secondary screen.  What this means is that you can even use the phones display while they are side by side. That is made possible because what connects the secondary one to the motherboard is just one ribbon cable.

OPPO Find X Tear down

OPPO is one of the manufacturers of smartphones in the world. The company officially Launch its flagship smartphone OPPO Find X  on 29 June, 2018. It adopts third generation AIE technology, but it also supports VOOC technology. However, to unlock the phone, the flagship adopts OPPO Facekey 3D structure which is much safer than facial recognition technique. But the fundamental issue is, how can we tear down OPPO Find X? However, the following guild will help you achieve your aim.

 

Step one

Remove the SIM card tray at the bottom of the phone with a clip.

The phone back cover is designed in such a way that it can only be removed by applying heat. Apply a heat of about 104oC and heat up the back cover of the phone for approximately 5 minutes, this process will melt the glue that holds the back cover and the cushion. Then, separate the back cover of the phone from the phone body.

After a successful separation of the back cover, it is observed that the phone body adopts 3 – stage design. The foam observed after removing the back-cover function as a cushion. In addition, it is observed that the phone battery has a capacity of about 4000mAh and has a limited charge voltage of about 4.4V with small battery size.

Step two

Remove the component between the motor and the dual – track periscope. The component helps to move the motor into the dual – track periscope structure for it to move upwards or downwards. However, the dual -track periscope structure is connected to the phone motherboard. Firstly, remove the remove the second plate which provides help for the dual – track periscope structure. After removing the second plate, a foam can be seen on the back of the second plate, it protects the motherboard, cable and connectors, prevent vapour and dust from entering the phone.

Step three

Remove the motherboard together with the dual – track periscope structure, also remove the motor which is a component of dual -track periscope structure. It is also observed that most of the glass cover plate in the phone is covered by double – sided tape, then uncover the tape.

These are the few steps required to tear down OPPO Find X. The phone has the most complicated structure, there are a total of 41 screws on the phone body and many other small components. Observations have it that the phone has an  excellent design and good heat dissipation performance.

OPPO  through OPPO Find X has once more showcase its can compete favorably with other smartphone producers. With the introduction of dual – track periscope structure designed to give the smartphone its durability, the is no doubt one of the best phones produced so far. However, the phone uses many screws and small components which makes the tear down process very difficult and there is a high risk when tearing down the phone.

 

HTC U12+ Teardown Review

HTC officially launched its new flagship HTC U12+ few months back. This smartphone is designed with 6 – inch 2K super LCD, with long lasting battery life. However, HTC U12+ is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and its graphics give the phone an edge among its competitors.
The fundamental issue is how to tear down HTC U12+ smartphone. However, there are steps that must be followed to achieve this; these steps are listed below.

Step one
Before one starts tearing down HTC U12+, first remove the SIM card tray. Then, heat is applied at the phone’s back cover for some minutes, afterward sucker is used to separate the back cover from the phone body. In case the glass on the back of the phone gets damaged, heat is also applied to the back cover, then use a plastic clip to widen the slot.

Step two
The phone connector should be taken out of the fingerprint reader cable with a plastic insulated pry. However, the internal design is the same with the variant of the semi-transparent back cover. The connector of three antenna lines with LDS process and contacts designed on the back plate of the phone for bridging connection of NFC antenna, earphone and antenna line to the motherboard should be remove.

Remove the rear main cameras and also remove the two shield covering the front of the motherboard, then the three main chips of the radio frequency circuit covered with thermal grease can be seen. Thereafter, remove the two shield covers on the back of the motherboard. The 6GB memory chip from SK Hynix, with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip piled together is covered with white conductive material and 128GB ROM from Samsung is covered with gray conductive material.

There is a metal that supports the front cameras. Remove the screws used to fix the metal support of the camera, which is easy to remove the dual camera setup on the front of the phone.

Step five
When the tear down on the top part of the phone is finished, then remove the screws at the bottom. However, this component gives the smartphone a linear vibrator which comes from Sony XZ2 features. The loudspeaker from the phone body should be remove. However, there are many white particles which is AAC’s proprietary technology in the back of the loudspeaker which can be seen, this technology helps to improve the phone’s low frequency performance when playing music.

After the tear down, It is observed that the phone data port meet the type – C standard with independent design. The data port is connected to the vice board at the bottom of the phone by the cable. It is also observed that the battery is made by ATL, which has the capacity of about 3500mAh, 13.47Wh. Lastly, the phone component and sealing performance have reached a higher level but the phone fail to support wireless charging.

HTC U12+ smartphone has a waterproof level of about IP68, which makes the tear down process difficult. These include removing the back cover which is tightly fixed by double-sided adhesive. There are three stages design which the phone’s internal structure adopts. HTC U12+ smartphone uses 15 screws due to the high integration of its components. Finally, due to the difficulty encounter and the complex nature of the smartphone, it is not recommended to tear down HTC U12 by yourself because if not carefully done, the smartphone might get damaged.
