Design

Lenovo ThinkPad T480 is designed without Lenovo logo but looks exactly like ThinkPad X1 Carbon with about two difference, which is the addition of SD card reader to ThinkPad T480s and it cancels narrow bezel design. The body of the laptop laptop is made of carbon fibre and metal material that gives it an excellent appearance.

The laptop is also designed with Windows Hello facial recognition, and several ports which include a Thunderbolt 3.0 port a mini – Ethernet interface, an RJ45 network interface, a USB 3.0 port, HDMI port, an SD card slot, a USB Type-C (USB 3.0) port, and an earphone – microphone 2-in-1 port. In addition, there is a SIM card slot hidden in the axis part of the laptop body.

The 14-inch IPS screen of the laptop gives a resolution of 2560 pixels by 1440 pixels, and the screen’s sRGB colour gamut covers 97% and also its brightness is about 298nit. The features of the screen gives the screen an superb performance when tested.

The keyboard is designed to give the best performance. However, the keyboard has a long key travel and good key cap, the fingerprint reader module is placed under the keyboard which makes it easier to unlock the laptop.

 

Display and Performance

There are many versions of Lenovo ThinkPad T480 with different processor. The reviewed version is powered by by 8th-generation Core i7-8550U processor based on KabyLake Refresh frame design. It has 1.8 GHz, and about 4.0 GHz maximum frequency, this features gives the processor a normal performance.

In addition, the tearing down of Lenovo ThinkPad T840 is very easy. It only requires the removal of the screws on the back cover and after that remove the back cover. The laptop also has a reserve memory slot for DDR4, to enable the user upgrade the capacity up to 24GB. Moreover, the wireless network card and M.2 SSD can be change easily by the user.

During performance, the temperature on the back cover was observed to be high but it has little adverse effect on laptop’s daily usage. Furthermore, the laptop has a long lasting battery life of about 11 hours, this gives the laptop an advantage over it competitors.
