Qualcomm is leading the pack in 5G network. The company just launched the new QTM052 mmWave antenna modules. The 5G modules will help to increase internet speed. This is a quantum leap for Qualcomm. The newly launched QTM052 mmWave antenna module with its QPMxx-sub-6 GHz radio frequency does not suffer from weak signal interference like the case with 4G. The 5G modules will help to throw off signals from the surface and connect with ease with the closest 5G tower.

The modules come as a part of the Snapdragon X50 5G modem from Qualcomm which will come live on smartphones by the first half of 2019.

Qualcomm Qualcomm's QTM052 Antenna Module

The company has already confirmed it has shipped samples to partners. Before the year runs out, Qualcomm will be discussing with its device partners on a location where the chip will be placed on the smartphones in order to get the best signal reception.

The Snapdragon X50 modem is designed in a way that it comes with four antennas on each side of the smartphone. As such, no matter how you handle the phone, the signals won’t be affected or disrupted in any way. It is also revealed that the X50 modem and the QTM052 mmWave antenna modules can get up to 5Gbps. This is a lot faster than the 4G connection that has just 70Mbps download speeds.

Experts in the telecoms sector have agreed across board that 5G technology is the solution to the challenges of the industry. They also agreed that it will help the deep penetration of broadband worldwide. The fact that 4G networks are not able to penerate the wall, has made manufacturers to go into extensive research on how to break this barrier.

Qualcomm is mobilising mmWave to enhance mobile broadband. For the very first time, mmWave will be deployed for mobile broadband communication.

Qualcomm in its statement says it is likely that mobile hotspots will be the first to use these modules before they are embedded in smartphones. It has also announced that MWC which is working with 20 manufacturers will make use of the Qualcomm 5G technology. Other companies are Nokia, Oppo, Vivo, ZTE, OnePlus.

There is no doubt 5G smartphones will bring a lot of smiles to the faces of smartphone users worldwide.  A stable network will mean more productivity and improved business. Mobile phone users can’t wait for the 5G network to be rolled out. It will be a big plus for the telecoms` industry.
