Xiaomi is really cutting across the Nigerian market. The manufacturer sold nearly 5 million units of redmi note 4 in Nigeria, last year and it's still maintaining that trend with the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Xiaomi has been absorbing steadily in the Nigerian market ,offering great value for money and it's tactics are beyond effective; although the Redmi note 4 is an added plus too in their increase in revenue from the Nigerian market.
And with the 2018 Xiaomi Redmi note 5 Pro in the market presently, Xiaomi has focused on core upgrades in important areas. Having an 18:9 display, a dual camera at the back , a 20MP front camera with a LED flash, a 6 GB of RAM, a snapdragon 636 chipset, and it has a 4000mAh, in which is a known fact that Xiaomi's battery life last so long, leading the category of battery life last year. And it works in either MTN, Glo LTE, and Airtel networks in Nigeria very well, there are no hassles.
The 18:9 panel marks a new ground for Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 Pro in the mobile device market in Nigeria. The brand had led the way for bezelless panels with the Mi Mix and Mi Mix 2 variety, and the more beautifully striking bezelless panels on the Redmi Note 5 that has been uniquely made this year, with a taller 5.99 inch display, which makes viewing more interesting on the phone. The switch to an 18:9 panel also makes the device to have capacitive navigational buttons in which it has on-screen keys that the user can adjust the orientation of the back and overview buttons from the settings menu.
The aesthetic has evolved over the last three years, but the design at the back is no longer looking interesting for most previous Xiaomi mobile devices. Nevertheless, the design works so well for the Redmi Note 5 which sells for 78,000 Naira, in smartphone retail outlets
There isn't much difference between the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro because both devices has the Micro USB charging port. And this standard, seems to be getting quite old, and this makes Xiaomi to be responsible in switching to USB-C in the Redmi series. The IR-blaster is good, as is also the 3.5mm Jack. The volume and power buttons are also very responsive as well. The finger-sensor at the back is also quick to identify and the placement is just right on the phone. The fingerprint sensor is located in the top one-third section and is right next to the natural resting position of your index finger, and it has a more distinct curve where the back meets the mid-frame.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 pro has a vibrant display, offering a resolution of 2160x 1080, which is fast becoming a standard for 18:9 panel. You can also adjust colours to your preferences in the phone by going into setting, the phone also comes with a blue light filter that can be setup to automatically start from the night time to the daytime.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro has a slightly smaller 4000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. On fair usage this could go beyond a day. But the main issue with the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the lack of fast charge up, although the battery lasts more than a day on average, but sometimes you'll want to charge during the day, and that could pose a problem to the user as the bundled charger maximum input/output is 5V/2A, the phone isn't really reliable to charge fast, taking an annoying 2 hours to take from 0% to 100%(full charge). Well, nevertheless fast charging isn't a big deal on such a device with such an excellent battery life, but the previous assertion to its "charging issue" is one of the few areas were the Redmi Note 5 Pro is behind it's competitors.
The phones camera features are a 12MP primary camera that's joined by a secondary 5MP depth camera and at the front you get a 20MP camera with LED flash, that makes for a perfectly soft selfie flash. The camera images does a perfect job in the daytime , especially when taking pictures, with images offering a lot of detail and precise colours and also doing a good job in the night time, which is a good edge to it, seeing as how most phones struggle in this area. While making a video, you get electronic image stabilization, but kind of misses out on 4k recording ,although don't know why it was missed out, but the snapdragon 636 can handle it. This makes the Redmi Note 5 Pro good in taking pictures, but poor in making videos.
As for it's software, it comes with a version of MIUI , but lacks an Oreo( there's no Oreo as its software) , it is also based on an Android 7.1.1 Nougat. And being the first to use the Qualcomm snapdragon 636, there could be problems,but can be updated from its 9.2.2.0 build to its 9.2.4.0 update. The stable build, would make the transmission and execution of the phone more effective, so that you can take a full advantage of the snapdragon 636. There's also a variety of customization options, and more feature that'll you'll use,and that's the main function of MIUI 9. MIUI 9 has plenty to offer as in quick replies in the notification window, native split -screen functionality and much benefits. Then we also have Dual Apps( which allows you to run two Apps at the same time) and Second space (in which you can be able to create a separate profile on your device).
And the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 pro, has two variants in terms of internal memory. It has the 4GB and 6GB internal memory variant both with 64GB internal storage. If it isn't enough, you can extend it to 128GB, using a memory card in the second SIM port, and great news... You can also upgrade the phone by including an update, of an Oreo software.
